Ikebana Floral Class

Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging, with roots in Buddhism and an appreciation of the natural world. Ikebana has been practiced in Japan since the sixth century. What sets ikebana apart from other flower arranging traditions and techniques is its emphasis on simplicity, elegance, balance, and a reverence for nature. These arrangements tend to focus more heavily on a few carefully chosen floral elements, using a more minimalist approach than traditional Western arrangements. In this workshop, Emilie will teach the history, philosophy, and techniques of ikebana and help you make an arrangement based on those guiding principles.
